An official definition of bitácora (Spanish) refers to the nautical housing for a ship's compass (binnacle) or, more commonly, the logbook (cuaderno de bitácora) where navigation details, observations, and events are recorded.
The word “bitacora” came to Pedrido as a goddess ship, carrying him to witness the “creatures” he had created that seemed to be going extinct or possibly forgotten. Are these spiritual creatures being forgotten? Do they bring us closer to something ancient? Something that lives in us all? In what world do they exist? With that we came to name Pedridos exhibition celebrating 10 years of his artistic career bitacora. Being described as a logbook of events throughout a journey, the name is appropriate for this specific exhibition. With works which started his creative process, such as “Los Musicos de Auschwitz" 2017, to pieces made this November, “Danza Sobre el Piano” 2025, we celebrate the beginnings of a true artistic talent.
Alejandro Pedrido (Remedios, Cuba 1990)
Born in Villa Clara on November 20, 1990 his childhood was intense and connected with nature, growing up on his family's farm. He became involved in plastic arts during his adolescence and studied one year of art at Manuel Ascunce Domenech in Cuba. His schooling was interrupted when he moved to Santiago de Chile in 2008, where his nostalgia made him create insatiably. Going through many stages of experimentation helped mold his own creative style using his body and soul. After living almost 11 years in Chile and creating many paintings, he decided to move to the states, bringing with him his years of work and experience. Pedrido now lives and creates in Miami, Florida.
Now consecrating his own proper style work as expressive, figurative, as well as fauvista, using unnatural colors, emotional brushstrokes and simple yet impactful images, he develops his own language. Many of Pedridos works are primitive, organic and take very much from nature as well as personal circumstance and feeling. The pieces are universal without any specific focus on politics, feeling the art is its own politics. Without a doubt, those who let themselves go and connect with the colors, forms and movement of the lines that live in the art of Pedrido, will find the beauty within themselves.
Pedrido Arte Gallery will be donating a percentage of every artwork sold during our exhibition, Bitácora, to the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station in Miami, Florida!
These donations are crucial for the progress and work the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station does for Miami, Florida; rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife of Florida to help preserve and maintain animals who have been injured, abandoned, or mistreated.

Una definición oficial de bitácora (en español) se refiere a la caja de bitácora, donde se aloja la brújula de un barco, o más comúnmente, al cuaderno de bitácora, donde se registran detalles de navegación, observaciones y eventos.
La palabra «bitácora» le llegó a Pedrido como una nave divina, que lo transportaba para presenciar las «criaturas» que había creado y que parecían estar extinguiéndose o quizás olvidadas. ¿Se están olvidando estas criaturas espirituales? ¿Nos acercan a algo ancestral? ¿Algo que reside en todos nosotros? ¿En qué mundo existen? De ahí surgió el nombre de «bitácora», la exposición de Pedrido que celebra sus 10 años de trayectoria artística. Descrita como un cuaderno de bitácora de un viaje, el nombre resulta apropiado para la muestra de esta excibicion. Con obras que marcaron el inicio de su proceso creativo, como «Los Músicos de Auschwitz» (2017), hasta piezas creadas este noviembre, como «Danza Sobre el Piano» (2025), celebramos los comienzos de un verdadero talento artístico.

Nacido en Villa Clara el 20 de noviembre de 1990, tuvo una infancia intensa y en contacto con la naturaleza, creciendo en la finca familiar. Durante su adolescencia se involucró en las artes plásticas y estudió un año de arte en la escuela Manuel Ascunce Domènech en Cuba. Sus estudios se vieron interrumpidos al mudarse a Santiago de Chile en 2008, donde la nostalgia lo impulsó a crear con una intensidad insaciable. Atravesar diversas etapas de experimentación le permitió moldear su propio estilo creativo, plasmado con cuerpo y alma. Tras vivir casi 11 años en Chile y crear numerosas pinturas, decidió mudarse a Estados Unidos, llevando con el su experiencia y trayectoria. Actualmente, Pedrido reside y crea en Miami, Florida.
Consagrando ahora un estilo propio que se caracteriza por ser expresivo, figurativo y fauvista, utiliza colores inusuales, pinceladas emotivas e imágenes sencillas pero impactantes, desarrollando un lenguaje pictórico distintivo. Muchas de las obras de Pedrido son primitivas, orgánicas y se inspiran profundamente en la naturaleza, así como en sus circunstancias y sentimientos personales. Las piezas son universales sin un enfoque político específico, considera que el arte es su propia política.. Sin duda, quienes se dejen llevar y conecten con los colores, las formas y el movimiento de las líneas que habitan el arte de Pedrido, encontrarán la belleza en su interior.
