LEARN MORE ABOUT EACH ARTIST BELOW
Abraham Maciñeiras
For 16 years Maciñerias illustrated the magazine for the Hispano-Cuban Foundation in Madrid; a global political and opinion based magazine. From this moment on, the idea of a series of ink-on-paper works began in his head and a mammoth work was born, now consisting of 200 drawings. In this series the artist uses a vision of a child who admires the cosmos and the space race. Quantum physics as a fundamental philosophy of our time is a theme that persists in his creation. In this series titled “The Hero’s Journey” the artist seeks an imaginary approach to the most abstract ideas of science. The forms of his childlike drawings prevail in these works. What he imagined as a child in an adult becomes a language where he recreates the -isms of his beloved 20th century.
The use of ballpoint ink and markers is a clear nostalgia for his childhood. His first drawings in his mothers office at the Univeristy are the basis for his position. Reaching adulthood and drawing childhood ideas again; the naivety of the universe is his position compared to a human who flies to the stars.
Arbelio Fontes Rodriguez
Born in Camagüey, Cuba (1973) he graduated from the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts (1996). Fontes work captivates the essence that art has no borders and speaks of the pain of having to be separated from his native home. Each work of art he creates leaves behind the imprint of a path traveled, born from the soul of an island that is never forgotten.
His exhibition career includes numerous group and solos shows in Cuba and abroad. Among his most notable events are his exhibition at the ArtLabbé Gallery in Coral Gables (July 2022) and his permanent presence at the Futurama Gallery in Miami. Fontes has participated in important group exhibitions such as Latino Art (Austin, 2022), La Mano Hispana (Hialeah 2022), Fragilidad (Hialeah 2023), Cubanostalgia (Miami 2023) , Kovens Conference Center FIU (2023), Honoring the Woman (2024), LES COULEURS Art Gallery (2024), Onsite Art Gallery Brickell (2024), and Mar-a-Lago Club (West Palm Beach 2025) among many others.
His work is part of private collections in the U.S.A, Canada, Spain, France, Cuba, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Australia, and the Dominican Republic. His work has been reviewed in specialized publications such as Artepoli magazine (No. XXII 2019 & No. XXXV 2022), Artista con Capitala- Anthology of articles by Àngel Alonzo (2023) and the C de Cuba- Cuban Art Magazine (No. 32 2024)
Mario Almaguer
Born in Marianao, Cuba (1955) Mario Almaguer moved to Miami, Florida in 1994, where he now lives and works. Being primarily self taught in the world of art Mario embraced sculpture as his primary means of expression. His perseverance and passion, quite literally, sculpted the artist before us today. His artistic influence has come from grand sculptors such as Agustín Cardena and Henry Moore.
During the beginning of his career Almaguer produced many sculptors crafted from wood but after 1994 he began to focus primarily on works using steel. Steel gave him a sense of freedom and liberty hard to find while manipulating wood. Almaguer has collectors in the United States and abroad, with sculptures being part of the Miami Dade College as well as other private collections.
Ventura Gonzalez Padrosa
Visual Artist | Graphic Designer | Art Historian
Born in 1952 in Baguanos, Holguín, Cuba, Ventura is a visual artist and graphic designer whose work draws deeply from the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and emotional landscapes of Cuba. He began exploring the visual arts at a young age, developing a passion for drawing and painting that would shape the course of his life. His formal training began at the Escuela Taller de Artes Plásticas Juan José Fornet Pina in Holguín (1965–1969), where he studied Drawing and Painting. He went on to specialize in Graphic Design at the National School of Arts Applied in Havana (1976–1981) and later earned a degree in Art History from the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the University of Havana (1983–1993). Over a career spanning nearly three decades, Ventura worked as a professional graphic designer and participated in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions across Cuba. His artwork integrates a strong foundation in classical techniques with a modern sensibility, reflecting themes of memory, identity, nature, and transformation. In December 2023, he relocated to the United States to reunite with family and pursue new creative opportunities. Now based in Florida, he continues to produce art that blends his Cuban roots with his evolving personal journey.
Yubani Sánchez
Born in Camagüey, Cuba (1986) Yubani Sánchez experienced a childhood of sickness and disease, preventing a normal life. He never excelled in school but at the age of 10 was introduced to the world of drawing and painting when visiting the home of an artist, where a wonderful interest and talent blossomed. He prepared to enroll in the school of art belonging to his city but was not admitted. This let down did not extinguish the fire inside this growing artist. He continued to learn and evolve with his teacher who instilled in him a love and appreciation for art, nature and friendship. The following years Sánchez participated in several group exhibitions, receiving a prize in 2008 for his work “New Alliance”. Deepening his studies in art history, philosophy, and religion he began to shape his creativity and expand his perception on life.
His intention as an artist is to reveal to the world the beauty and presence of God in nature. To enter into the invisible life of things created by God and to proclaim his truth and mercy. “God is not far from each one of us, and art is the ideal instrument to bring the human heart closer to the heart of the Divine”. Sánchez manifests through his work the mysterious and silent cry of creation, a universal call to the origin and source of all life.
In 2019 Yubani made a hard decision to leave his country due to the poor economic situation and migrate to Guyana. He now works out of Miami, Florida, feeding the dream and working hard to pursue his passion, grateful for the opportunities this country has given him.

Opera Prima Art Exhibition in Miami Fl. showcasing Alejandra Luna
Alejandra Luna will be exhibiting at ArtLabbé Gallery in Coral Gables, Florida. We will be displaying Lunas art work Friday August 2, 2024 starting at 6pm until August 30th. Her art projects images of nature and beauty from her own world and imagination.
ArtLabbé Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition of the Colombian painter, singer and composer ALEJANDRA LUNA and her First Feature “MICELIOS” curated by Isabel Cristina Quintero Duque. Like someone who finds a feeling in a language they don't know, Alejandra merges with the painting. The world of lyrical and popular music and musical composition constitute parallel universes, which she transported and translated into the pictorial universe. Her concern to explore other impulses of her soul prompted her to seek new expressions in painting that allow her to externalize her conception of the world, her emotions, reflections and impressions in the confrontation with her vital and social eco-environment. This pictorial series is inspired by time, today and tomorrow, the origin of life, being and its evolution. After exploring materials and techniques, Alejandra proposes a contemporary, disruptive, hybrid and eclectic combination, in her own language, in the way of the great modern artists.
This combination between medium and language, present in her work, opens a powerful door to her inner world and causes instant immersion, a constant dialogue between reality and fantasy, conscious and subconscious. The composition and explosion of color, textures and her freedom in the interpretation of different plastic resources, shows us in her work a changing dynamic that reveals the way in which she understands the great paradigms of humanity. When passing through the exhibition “MICELIOS”, the viewer will immerse themselves in the soul of the artist. They will witness the time of the universe, become part of the mycelium warp, relationship and movement that feeds life and thus will confront the dichotomy of advancement and extinction.
